Gender surgery goes 3D!

We did it! We recorded a 3D step-by-step surgical video in collaboration with ‘Incision’. We challenge ourselves to deliver the best hands-on gender surgical training courses while anticipating and redefining the future of training in the field of gender surgery.

Gender affirming surgical procedures are complicated and need a lot of careful planning. Today, observing surgeons can peek over the shoulder of the surgeon during an operation. This way, it is challenging to learn the tricks of the trade. Existing technologies such as a 3D anatomical model and step-by-step surgical video can help a lot in learning different methods as well as modelling and planning successfully complex surgical procedures.

By using 3D step-by-step surgical videos, surgeons that attend our hands-on surgical courses will have access to course content and instructions ahead of the course. This will free up face-to-face time during the course to let you seek clarifications from instructors, collaborate with peers and practice applying concept (hands-on) while getting guidance and feedback directly from experts. This will allow our instructors to actually teach, rather than merely make speeches. You will leave the course with an even greater collection of resources and a clearer awareness of what you need to focus on to close the gaps that remain in your learning.

Launch of the 'Amsterdam Gender Rounds' During the WPATH 2018 conference in Buenos Aires

After months of hard work, we’re celebrating this week, because we can finally announce out loud that we launched the ‘Amsterdam Gender Rounds’ during the WPATH symposium in Buenos Aires. Our initiative was received by the audience with great enthusiasm. As we all know, the worldwide demand for skilled gender surgical teams keeps on growing. So a major challenge lies ahead of us to train dedicated surgeons. With our ‘Amsterdam Gender Rounds’ we will face this challenge.

Our state of the art ‘rounds’ are a combination of training video’s with 3D anatomy, E-learning modules, hands-on cadaveric dissection and interactive discussion groups. Surgical trainees will practice on their own cadaver and receive direct feedback from international leading gender surgeons. During the training breakout sessions will be held for other team members concerning the pre-and postoperative care.
